Plug-in card system replaced: topics moved to digital board
About once a week, a management meeting is held at Wacker Neuson in Hörsching, during which the project manager of a development project reports to the team and division managers on current issues, problems and challenges. Up to now, these have been visualized in analog form: Large yellow boards on the walls. With magnets in all the traffic light colors and various interchangeable cards – each of which had to be filled out manually by the team members.
Additional effort that had to be avoided: After all, the project management software already documented all relevant information.
Interactive collaboration: the shop floor board in practice
The Shopfloor module has been implemented as an extension to the Projectworx task management. If there are challenges associated with a task that need to be discussed in the meeting, they are tagged accordingly. You also have the option to prioritize the issue by using traffic light colors. Optionally, notes can be added and displayed directly on the shopfloor board. All relevant information is summarized in a clear Kanban view. Thomas Braterschofsky explains how this works in practice:
“In the shop floor module, all to-dos from the projects are displayed, which serve as a basis for improvement measures or decisions in general. If, for example, a component breaks during a test, this is entered directly into Projectworx, along with a detailed description and, if necessary, photos. The respective specialist department then takes on the task, discusses it—possibly at the machine—makes the necessary decisions and implements the measures. These are then recorded in Projectworx.
In meetings, it is easy to see which challenges are currently pending and which problems have already been solved. Within the organization, it is also very easy to see what project successes have been achieved by the teams.”
More benefits: Shopfloor Board as a flexible solution
Wacker Neuson benefits from the up-to-dateness and flexibility that this solution offers. Because the system is available online, colleagues in the home office can now also follow the meetings and topics in detail. The seamless documentation of all decisions ensures the best possible transparency.
A best practice for interactive collaboration, which was also in place during the design and implementation of the shopfloor module. Based on the requirements of Wacker Neuson, a module was developed that is also useful for other organization
