Multi-stage introduction of Projectworx at thyssenkrupp
In the course of a cross-company evaluation project in 2016 and 2017, various project management solutions were analyzed with regard to their suitability for the company. The goal was to find software that was highly standardized but still offered the flexibility to map and harmonize the company’s various processes.
Projectworx was chosen and implemented in two phases.
After an introductory project with pilot projects, PROJECTWORX was introduced as the scheduling software for all projects at the beginning of the year 2020. Existing projects were migrated.
Strategic projects with KPIs, project charter documents and status reports were integrated.
Since 2022, Projectworx has also been used for task management and quality gate reviews.
For years, thyssenkrupp Presta AG has defined standards for quality gates (or review gates). These define how a project is structured and what requirements must be met in order to successfully pass through the gates. The processing of quality gate requirements was handled differently at each location. Together with LOP lists, todo lists, logs and emails, this resulted in a large number of data sources for tasks. With Projectworx, the process is now harmonized and mapped in a single system. Templates in Projectworx specify company-wide quality gate requirements as tasks that must be completed before a quality gate can be passed.
This means that people are working directly in Projectworx when preparing a gate, and documenting the quality gate is just the last step. This creates a very good database that can be used to identify problems and deviations from the plan in advance, so that countermeasures can be taken at an early stage.
